In this region, grapevines are planted on natural terraces. It enjoys a Mediterranean climate, but with strong continental influence, with temperature fluctuations ranging from -6°C to 38°C. Rainfall is scarce, at 350 mm annually, so grapevines are typically pruned very short to have a trailing posture that takes advantage of the moisture in the soil.

White wine production predominates, made from Garnacha Blanca and Macabeo grapes. They are powerful, robust, full-bodied, and high in alcohol content. For rosé and red wines, Carignan, Garnacha Tinta, and Peluda grapes are used. There is also production of sweet wine and mistelle.
